Job summary

VOA Northern Rockies seeks a Client Transportation Driver who also fulfills Recovery Health Technician duties in a residential treatment facility. You will transport patients to appointments locally and across Wyoming, Montana and Western South Dakota while ensuring program adherence and patient safety.

The role requires strong communication, empathy for individuals in recovery, crisis composure, and the ability to document medication usage and support group activities and 12-step guidance.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions to perform transportation duties.
  • No DUI/DWI charges or convictions within five years of hire date.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and database programs.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to appointments locally and across Wyoming, Montana and Western South Dakota.
  • Log patients' daily actions and behaviors and ensure program guideline compliance.
  • Monitor mental and physical well-being; report observations of illness, injury or conflicts.
  • Assist patients with 12-step program understanding and coping strategies.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups for patients.
  • Chart patient medication usage and maintain records.
  • Conduct inspection rounds to ensure a clean, hazard-free facility.
  • Transport patients to community appointments and meetings; conduct patient drug testing.

Job description

Summary/Objective

The Client Transportation Driver transports patients to appointments outside the VOANR facility. When not performing transportation duties, this position performs the duties of Recovery Health Technician in a residential facility that provides treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Essential Functions
  • Transport patients to appointments locally and across the states of Wyoming, Montana and Western South Dakota
  • Ensure patients' compliance with program guidelines and log patients' daily actions and behaviors
  • Continuously monitor patients for mental and physical well-being, including signs of illness or injury, substance use or conflict with other patients and report observations
  • Working in concert with the patient's counselor, aid patients with clarification of the 12-steps program, productive use of time, coping with emotional and program concerns
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups for patients
  • Chart patient medication usage
  • Conduct inspection rounds of the facility to observe patient behavior and ensure the facility is clean and hazard free
  • Transport patients to appointments and meetings in the community
  • Perform patient drug testing

Work Environment

This job operates in both a transport vehicle and a residential treatment facility environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing transportation duties, this position will spend long periods sitting while operating the vehicle. While performing Recovery Health Technician duties, this position must be mobile throughout the facility, as well as work on a computer for periods.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time or part-time status dependent on the position hired for in a 24/7 facility. Days and hours of work vary according to the assigned shift.

Travel

Significant local and distance travel is expected for this position when performing transportation duties.

Required Education, Experience Or Eligibility Qualifications
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Proficient with a variety of computer software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite and database programs
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prevent the performance of Transporation responsibilities
  • No DUI/DWI pending charges or convictions within five years before the hire date
