Four Winds CommunityThe Transportation Assistant is responsible for driving the facility vehicle to transport residents, staff and volunteers to desired destination.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Transports residents to doctor’s appointments and other activities
  • May be requested to run errands or perform other related activities
  • Conducts safety checklist according to policy
  • Maintains vehicles in clean condition
  • Reports observations of structural, equipment and furniture defects/malfunctioning to appropriate personnel
  • Maintains confidentiality of necessary information
  • Handles unusual occurrences calmly and logically to maintain continuity of business and duties
  • Follows all appropriate safety and security guidelines, procedures and protocol for residents in the Special Care Unit
  • Maintains appropriate, effective communication with residents, and with residents' family or other significant relationships
  • Provides all care, treatment and services with appropriate dementia care protocols
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or directed

Skills & Abilities

  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
  • Experience: Six (6) months or more of related experience
  • Computer Skills: Must possess basic computer skills
  • Certifications & Licenses: Must possess a valid driver's license; Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state/federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
  • Other Requirements: Previous commercial drivers experience, preferred; Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language; Must be able to work with residents, community staff and physician office personnel; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
