Job summary

Warsaw Community Schools Transportation Department is seeking a part-time Transportation Assistant in Warsaw, Indiana. You will support the bus driver, help maintain student conduct, ensure proper seating and safety equipment usage, and assist with loading/unloading students as needed.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and physical fitness per Indiana safety standards. The position runs for 36 weeks as a non-exempt, part-time role within the transportation team.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness as approved by state safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in maintaining safe student conduct on the bus.
• Ensure students are seated and use safety equipment as needed.
• Provide health care needs support when necessary.
• Pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on restraint systems with the driver.
• Assist loading and unloading students safely at residences and schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Job Description

Reports to: Director of Transportation

General Summary: To assist in providing safe/efficient transportation so special education or disabled students can enjoy the district’s curriculum and extra-curricular program.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
• Ensures the students are seated, using safety equipment as needed.
• Provides special health care needs when necessary.
• Pre-trips and post-trips safety restraint systems on bus, along with bus driver.
• Ensures that students are loaded and unloaded in a safe and orderly fashion, assisting the student to and from the residence/school when necessary.
• Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Physical as approved by the Indiana Department of Education, Division of School Traffic Safety.
