Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools is seeking a bus aide to assist with student transportation and safety on assigned routes. You will help load and unload students, secure seats and mobility devices, monitor behavior, support students with questions and emotional needs, and document issues per IEP/BIP guidance.

The role emphasizes safety, compassion, and teamwork in a school transportation setting. Applicants should be prepared to assist under varying weather conditions and maintain clear records

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in school or transportation settings preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

PURPOSE

Assist with student management and providing safe transportation for students on assigned buses as directed by the Transportation Supervisor and the bus driver.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Experience to perform assigned duties.

Essential Functions

• Assist in loading/unloading studentsand securing seatbelts wheelchairs and devices. Use wheelchair lifts as needed.
• Monitor and maintain student behaviorand discipline; explain and reinforce bus rules; report issues.
• Support studentsby answering questions and offering guidance emotional support and a friendly attitude.
• Maintain accurate recordsfor students requiring additional attention during transport.
• Address special needsper each student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP)and Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP).
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet specific needs of the school or unit.
