Job Title: Shift Manager AM
Location: 38/39 Juliette Way, Purfleet Industrial Park, Purfleet RM15 4YA
Salary: £40,000 annually
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Working Hours: 03:30 – 16:00, 4 days on 4 days off

The Role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity within our growing company for an experienced Shift Manager at our Recycling Recovery Facility in Purfleet, Essex. The successful candidate will be responsible for running a smooth operation during your shift, ensuring efficient utilisation of our fleet and drivers, optimising routes and managing performance. With no two days the same, you will need to be able to adapt accordingly to deal with unexpected challenges as they arise, ensuring issues are resolved promptly while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders. You will be joining a small team that keep our network running, making sure we deliver an exceptional level of service to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Line manager for your shift, interact and manage up to 50 drivers with the responsibility for driver conduct, compliance and performance
  • Ensure all jobs are completed, liaising with drivers accordingly, rescheduling work between drivers as required and taking ownership of any queries and problems that arise and see through to resolution
  • Debrief of drivers at the end of the shift for AM routes and start of shift for PM routes to ensure any issues are sorted quickly and efficiently including contamination, overweight and overfilled bins/sacks
  • Manage real time customer issues, queries from the Helpdesk Team and responding quickly to actions registered in the CRM/ERP
  • Manage smaller disciplinary issues, documenting potential warnings and complete 'Return to Work' meetings when needed
  • Assist Managers in other assorted duties and general office Adhoc
  • Cover shift manager holiday as needed

About you:

  • Knowledge and previous experience in route planning and shift management
  • Excellent communicator
  • Experience in managing day to day operations and good problem solver
  • Good level of IT literacy with knowledge of MS office and outlook
  • Geographical knowledge of London areas for route planning
  • C class licence is desirable
  • Vehicle fleet management, ensuring vehicles are maintained accordingly, any defects are investigated and rectified within a reasonable timeframe
  • Experience from the waste and recycling industry would be beneficial
