Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center's LifeLINK Critical Care Transport Service seeks an experienced RN to perform transport and intra-system patient care within the hospital's scope of practice. Work includes accompanying critically ill patients, coordinating transfers, and maintaining up-to-date ACLS/PALS/NRP training.

The role requires NC RN licensure, an emergency medicine background, and the ability to drive ambulances as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing is required.
• Current RN licensure in North Carolina is required.
• Current NC EMT certification or obtain within 1 year of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, ITLS or Advanced Trauma Certification and NRP required.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700 required.
• CAMTS nursing specialty certification within 1 year of employment.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care during transport in coordination with CCEMT-P.
• Maintain competence in ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ITLS; perform procedures with skill and accuracy.
• Document patient transport records promptly and accurately.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and educational activities.
• Assist with loading/unloading patient and equipment on the ambulance.
• Coordinate with the Critical Care Paramedic to ensure transfer information accompanies the patient.
• Perform follow-up contacts for transport staff education and communication with referring physicians.

In addition, responds to needs of various hospital units while not performing LifeLINK specific functions/special projects by performing patient care duties within the health system when accompanied by another Critical Care Paramedic/Paramedic or Critical Care Transport Nurse. Patient care duties performed within the health system remain within the clinical scope of practice of the incumbent and are outlined in the LifeLINK Critical Care protocol. Also utilized as a relief driver of the LIFELINK ambulance when needed. Required to obtain and accurately record all available billing information, including signatures and thoroughly and accurately document physical findings and treatment rendered on a patient care record.
