Job summary

AdventHealth in Kissimmee, Florida is hiring for an Emergency Medical Technician/EMT role on the Night shift. You will operate emergency vehicles, monitor patient conditions, and communicate with nurses and dispatch to ensure timely care. Strong documentation, safety, and teamwork are essential.

The role requires EMT certification (or EMT-A), a valid driver’s license, and BLS. Healthcare benefits start day one, with extensive training and growth opportunities in a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required; EMT cert (or EMT-A) required.
• Driver's license (DL) or CDL required; CEVO/EVOC preferred.
• Must read, write and speak conversational English; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicates delays to dispatch and reports vehicle issues to supervisor immediately.
• Adheres to SOPs and ensures patient documentation is accurate and compliant.
• Communicates findings and patient conditions to nurses and paramedics.
• Sets up and prepares ventilator, monitor, IV, and pumps.
• Charts patient care documentation within 24 hours.
• Provides full patient report to receiving staff.
• Monitors patient conditions and aggregates data.
• Transports patients and maintains unit readiness.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely under various conditions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Communicates delays and updates to dispatch and reports any damage or vehicle issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Adheres to department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensures patient documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance at all times.
• Communicates findings and patient conditions to aligned registered nurses, paramedics, and personnel.
• Assists crew with set up and preparation of ventilator, cardiac monitor, IV line, and pumps.
• Responsible for charting documentation and patient care with BLS patients.
• Provides receiving staff with a full patient report.
• Monitors patient conditions and aggregates data.
• Completes patient care record within state allotted time (24 hrs).
• Assists with patient mobilization, ambulation, and transport.
• Maintains equipment between transports and keeps the unit in a constant state of readiness.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely in various weather and emergent conditions according to established safety standards.
• Utilizes appropriate medical equipment and comprehends injury/medical severity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to clearly communicate patient conditions, status, and arrival times with medical care facilities that receive patients [Required]
• Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operations, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately [Required]
• Ability to determine life threatening conditions [Required]
• Provides appropriate emergency care and transports the patient, when necessary [Required]

Education

• Associate [Preferred]

Field of Study

Work Experience

• 1+ year of experience emergency vehicle operations [Preferred]

• Ambulance transport experience [Preferred]
