Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Transport Driver to safely operate tractor-trailer combinations across Arizona job sites and potentially travel to nearby states.

You will ensure loads are secured, perform inspections per DOT rules, and maintain equipment while supporting field crews with other tasks as needed. A Class A CDL with doubles/triples and tanker endorsements is required; hazmat preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with Doubles/Triples and Tanker endorsements; Hazmat preferred.
• HS diploma or GED required.
• Experience with tractor-trailer driving and heavy equipment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples.
• Secure loads and unload freight as required.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations.
• Maintain trucks and equipment per company and manufacturer specs.
• Comply with all DOT, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Accurately complete required documentation.

General Summary

The Transport Driver is responsible for safely operating a variety of vehicles and trailers to transport freight and or equipment to and from various job sites located throughout Arizona. May require travel to other states, including but not limited to New Mexico and Texas.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Safely operate a tractor trailer combination including doubles and triples.
• Ensure all loads secured, safely load and unload freight and/or equipment at designated location.
• Perform pre- and post-inspections on truck, pursuant to DOT regulations, company guidelines and manufacture's specifications.
• Maintain truck(s) and equipment according to the standards set in place by the company and manufacturer's specifications.
• Comply with all DOT, state, and local truck and highway laws, rules, and regulations.
• Safely operate all equipment in compliance with all legal weight and load size limits.
• Accurately complete required documentation.
• Assist crews with other tasks as required when not transporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Must have valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Doubles/Triples and Tanker endorsement; Hazmat endorsement preferred.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience, preferred.

Work Experience

• 3-5 years of tractor-trailer driving experience, required.
• Experience operating heavy equipment, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to safely operate vehicles/equipment through all types of environments, including off road and job sites.
• Ability to work, day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).
• Ability to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work in safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.

Physical Demands

• Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with ability to: grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.
• Lifting, pushing, pulling of heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
