Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Transport Aide in Saint Paul, MN. You will move patients, pharmaceuticals, lab specimens and equipment throughout the hospital, ensuring safe, timely transfers and adherence to safety protocols.

The role supports care teams to prevent delays, with 0.6 FTE and 8-hour day/evening shifts, occasional weekends. BLS is required through one of multiple options. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 0–2 years of health care or transport experience preferred
  • Current BLS certification not required by all applicants but must meet at least one BLS option (provided by employer)

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to designated treatments or procedures.
  • Safely transports, lifts and positions patients using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Coordinates timing of transports to meet patient care needs.
  • Communicates delays to patient care units and escalates emergencies when needed.
  • Maintains transfer equipment and ensures proper storage.
  • Monitors and reports equipment needing repair or replacement.
  • Operates the electronic medical record transport system and supports other duties as assigned.

Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, equipment and patient related items to their destinations enabling the health care team to perform their duties.Principle ResponsibilitiesTransports patients to designated treatments or procedures.Safely transports, lifts and positions patients to and from cart, wheelchair, bed and chair using appropriate safe patient moving techniques and equipment.Coordinates the timing of transports to meet patient care needs.Communicates to patient care units if delays occur.Recognizes emergency situations and escalates to appropriate member of health care team.Demonstrates expert knowledge of machine and manual transfer protocols.Utilizes each transfer as an opportunity to communicate and teach protocols to other health care staff.Assures that transfer equipment is well maintained and properly stored.Monitors equipment needing repair and pulls broken equipment from service.Utilizes electronic medical record transport system.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMust be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job descriptionPreferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED0 to 2 years of previous health care experience0 to 2 years of previous transport experienceLicenses/CertificationsMust meet at least ONE of the requirements below Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)Physical DemandsMedium Work:Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequentlyPay RangePay Range: $20.11 to $26.51 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range.
