Job summary

University of Virginia is seeking a full-time, one-year, tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructor in the Division of Transplant Surgery. The role supports an active abdominal transplant program and involves clinical care of kidney, pancreas, and liver transplant patients, education of students, residents, and fellows, and opportunities for clinical research.

The candidate will participate in evaluation and management, perioperative care, donor organ recovery, and collaborative team-based care

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency.
• Completion of, or anticipated completion of, an accredited Transplant Surgery Fellowship prior to start date.
• Board-eligible or board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Participate in evaluation and management of transplant candidates and recipients.
• Provide perioperative care and perform abdominal transplant procedures.
• Assist in donor organ recovery for kidney, pancreas, liver, and multi-organ transplants.
• Collaborate with transplant surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Engage in educational activities for medical students, residents, and fellows; contribute to clinical research and quality improvement.

Education

MD/DO or equivalent medical degree

ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency

Transplant Surgery Fellowship (completed or anticipated)

Board-eligible or board-certified in General Surgery
