Job summary

DHR Health, the first Level I Trauma Center in the Rio Grande Valley, TX, is launching a liver transplant program and seeks a gastroenterologist with transplant hepatology expertise to help build and grow the program. The role offers participation in education, teaching, and research within a teaching hospital setting.

Ideal candidates will hold an MD or DO, be board Certified/Eligible in gastroenterology with fellowship in transplant hepatology or internal medicine with transplant hepatology

Qualifications

• Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist with fellowship in Transplant Hepatology OR Internal Medicine with fellowship in Transplant Hepatology.

Job description

DHR Health, the first Level I Trauma Center in the Rio Grande Valley, TX entered the organ transplant field in 2017 after receiving federal approval from UNOS to launch the adult kidney transplant program. Since then, DHR Health continues to be the only hospital in the region providing transplant services. The transplant volume has skyrocketed, and outcomes have remained above the national average. As such, DHR Health is now establishing a liver transplant program and has an opportunity for a successful candidate to gain invaluable experience through hands‑on participation in the development of the liver transplant program. This unique opportunity combines comprehensive care for patients with advanced liver disease and liver failure, including liver transplantation as well as living donor transplantation.
