Job summary

Tufts Medical Center in Boston is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Transplant Hepatologist to join the Division of Transplant Surgery. This is a pivotal role in a rapidly growing academic liver transplant program at a premier New England medical center.

The successful candidate will collaborate with community and academic providers to expand access to hepatology services, enhance referral pathways, and advance integrated liver disease management across Tufts Medicine.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Fellowship trained in Transplant Hepatology.
  • Massachusetts medical licensure.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across Tufts Medicine and community providers.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic liver disease in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-liver transplant care, including transplant evaluations, waitlist management, and long-term follow-up.
  • Diagnose and manage complex hepatobiliary disorders, including cirrhosis, portal hypertension, MASLD/MASH, viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, and acute liver failure.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary liver transplant selection conferences and collaborate with transplant surgeons and the broader team.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing the latest evidence-based therapies and guidelines.
  • Foster strong relationships with physicians and clinical leaders across Tufts Medicine to enhance collaboration and referral pathways.
  • Partner with community physicians and regional referral providers to support growth of the Liver Transplant Program.
  • Serve as a clinical ambassador for Tufts Medicine through outreach, education, and collaborations.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, program development, and multidisciplinary conferences.
  • Teach and mentor fellows, residents, medical students, and APP learners.
  • Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities.
