Job summary

Nova Scotia Power in Ragged Lake, NS, is seeking a Systems Operator - Transmission to join the Control Center Operations team in a permanent, full-time role. You will be accountable for safe and reliable dispatch of the transmission system and connected facilities, following NPCC and NERC standards.

The position requires operating SCADA, maintaining logs, and directing switching actions, with a 12-hour rotating shift and availability for emergency restoration or contingency response.

Qualifications

• Operate and dispatch the transmission system within SOL/IROL limits.
• Maintain accurate logs and follow NSPI procedures and Reliability Coordinator directives.
• Complete System Operator Training to Transmission level and obtain NERC certification.

Responsibilities

• Safe operation and dispatch of transmission facilities and interconnected tie line.
• Direct switching and reactive source control to maintain voltage and stability.
• Direct corrective actions, including load reductions, during abnormal conditions as required.
• Operate SCADA tools and maintain discipline in shift log entries.
