A leading energy consulting firm is seeking a Senior Transmission Planning & Studies Engineer to support complex electrical system studies for utility and industrial clients across North America. This senior-level role offers the flexibility of remote work or the option to join from one of several U.S. office locations.

You will collaborate with engineers, utilities, and independent power producers (IPPs) to model power systems and perform high-impact planning and operational studies that influence the future of the electric grid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed power flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability studies
• Perform interconnection and feasibility assessments for utilities and IPPs
• Analyze relay settings, critical clearing times, and system reliability
• Develop system models using PSSE, PSLF, or equivalent software
• Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and findings to clients
• Support business development and provide mentorship to junior engineers
• Manage and execute technical project work with limited supervision

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 10+ years of experience in transmission planning and system studies
• Proficiency with PSSE, PSLF, or similar grid modeling tools
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills
• Experience with an engineering consulting firm highly preferred
• Ability to manage projects independently and work in cross-functional teams
• Willingness to travel occasionally (~10%)
