ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform power flow, short circuit, and facility studies AEP-Texas facilities in the ERCOT footprint. Write reports to explain study results. Develop holistic solutions to interconnect customers, correct criteria violations, and address rehab needs. Present projects to management and cross-departmental teams and support sponsored projects throughout development of scope, design, and estimates.
Contribute to ongoing development of the portfolio of capital projects in support of corporate and business unit strategy, in a manner which effectively organizes and prioritizes customer interconnect projects, planned system improvement projects, mandated system reliability upgrades, chronic equipment failures, asset renewal, and other capital work. Effectively coordinate needs, requests, and priorities of other engineering, operations, construction, and maintenance groups engaged in or affected by capital improvements. In addition, assist in development of project estimates and internal budgets for assigned activities.
Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules established by NERC, SPP, and AEP while following regulations and supporting periodic filings as required by federal, state, or local regulating agencies.
Coach and mentor less experienced team members and contractors with planning, project design, and capital planning activities, consistent with established NERC standards, planning criteria, internal processes, and authorized budgets.
Represent, coordinate, and advocate positions on behalf of AEP in the ERCOT RTO member working groups, task forces, and user forums as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (by grade):

Engineer Associate (GRADE 5)
Salary Range: $61,647 - $77,057
This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
Acceptable alternative is:
*A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
Engineer (Grade 06)
Salary Range:$72,380- $90,474.
Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*
License:Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
* Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
Engineer (Grade 07)
Salary Range-$85,081- $106,353.
Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master’s degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*
Individuals with a PhD in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is preferred.
License:Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
