We are searching for a Transmission Line Principal Engineer E&C on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2). The position is responsible for managing the design of transmission generation tie lines for Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage, and stand-alone transmission projects. The Principal Engineer works within the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group, overseeing transmission line projects from conception through construction and commissioning.

Location: Remote

Pay rate: $62.00/hr

Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conceptual Phase: Collaborate with the Early-Stage Project Manager to define project requirements and scope with the Development Group. Projects may include FERC 1000 proposals or greenfield projects for NEER affiliates.
2. Resource Coordination: Secure engineering consulting resources by developing scopes of work, obtaining bids, and awarding contracts through NEER’s ISC Group.
3. Route and Data Acquisition: Coordinate with stakeholders to develop routes and obtain necessary data and permits, including geotechnical and lidar data. Manage sourcing and contracting of services, supporting cost estimation.
4. Design and Construction Support: Oversee engineering deliverables for proposals, design, and construction, including drawings and design criteria, ensuring quality and compliance.
5. Stakeholder Communication: Represent E&C interests, provide project updates, and participate in meetings with management to address progress, issues, and risks.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
• At least 3 years of experience in development, design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission lines
• Strong knowledge of transmission design, excellent communication, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, general arrangements, and other technical deliverables
• Willingness to travel within North America

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Engineering or Project Management experience with a bias for action
• PMP and/or P.E. certification in a related discipline is advantageous
• Proficiency with industry tools such as PLSCADD, AutoCAD, Primavera, etc.
