Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, through WECTEC Staffing Services, seeks a Transmission Line Principal Engineer for a 1-year W-2 contract in the U.S. The role covers transmission line design for Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage projects, from conception to commissioning, with a focus on HV transmission line projects in North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in the design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission line projects.
• Knowledge of transmission design concepts and related deliverables.
• Ability to read one-line and three-line diagrams, general arrangements, plan and profiles.
• Travel within North America required.

• In the conceptual phase, define project requirements and scope with Early Stage Project Manager and Development Group.
• Coordinate to develop and secure a route, support engineering data, permits, geotechnical and lidar data, and sourcing of services.
• Represent E&C's internal and external interests in meetings with management and stakeholders.

About the role:

We're looking for a Transmission Line Principal Engineer on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2). This is for the transmission generation tie lines for Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage, and stand-alone transmission line projects.

The Transmission Line Principal Engineer will work in the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group. You will manage the design of transmission line projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution). Engineering consultants perform line design under the direction of the Transmission Line Principal Engineer. Location: Juno Beach, FL 33408

Key Responsibilities:

• In the conceptual phase, the Transmission Line Principal Engineer works with the Early Stage Project Manager to define and influence the project requirements and scope with the Development Group. Projects can begin as FERC 1000 transmission project proposals, or as greenfield projects.
• The Transmission Line Principal Engineer must coordinate with other project team members to develop and secure a route, support the engineering data, and permits necessary to develop the line, including geotechnical and lidar data. Activities include competitively sourcing, selecting and contracting geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, and supporting the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions.
• We ask that you coordination with other groups to ensure the projects are successful. Generally responsible for representing E&C's internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations/briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with multiple levels of management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in the design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission line projects.
• We will ask you to have a knowledge of transmission design.
• We ask that you have technical competence such as the ability to understand one line and three-line diagrams, general arrangements, plan and profiles and other common deliverables.
• Travel required within North America.
