Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Madison, WI is seeking a Transmission Line Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This paid full-time internship runs June through August 2027 (flexible) and may transition into a full-time role after graduation.

You will work under project managers and team leaders alongside engineers, scientists, and technologists. This internship develops practical skills in regulatory tasks, data management, line modelling, 3D modeling, and documentation, with mentors guiding progress.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid technical and problem‑solving skills
• Self‑motivated, detail orientated person
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCad, MathCad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ARCView GIS, etc.) is preferred but not required
• Must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support, etc.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation.
• Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client.
• Transmission line modelling, drawing and material list/BOM review.
• Perform 3D modeling, foundation design, and review drawings as needed.
• Will be supported by leaders, mentors and teammates.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Transmission Line Engineering Intern for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Madison, WI Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
