Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to lead overhead and underground line design for utility clients in a mid-level role. You will own deliverables from feasibility through IFC, apply NESC/ASCE methods, and coordinate with substations, civil teams, and permitting groups.

You will support construction with RFIs, outages, and as-builts, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. A Bachelor's in Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering and 6–10 years of relevant experience are

Qualifications

• 6–10 years transmission line engineering in a consulting or owner’s-engineer setting
• Bachelor’s in Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering (or related). PE preferred; EIT required if not licensed.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD/POLE/TOWER for OHTL; familiarity with UGTL analysis and ampacity/thermal rating workflows.
• Demonstrated application of NESC and ASCE methods for OHTL; knowledge of UG cable systems and vault/manhole design.
• Strong writing and client-facing communication; ability to lead technical meetings and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Own TL engineering deliverables from feasibility through IFC for overhead and underground routes and structures.
• Model and analyze overhead lines with PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/TOWER for clearances, sag/tension, and loading.
• Engineer underground transmission routes, duct bank layouts, cable ampacity/thermal rating, and splicing plans.
• Apply standards (NESC, ASCE, IEC-based methods) and prepare sealed criteria and calc packages.
• Coordinate interfaces with substations, civil/structural/geotech, environmental/permitting, and ROW teams.
• Support construction with RFIs, vendor reviews, outages, energization, and as-builts.
