Qualifications

  • EIT or PE certification is desirable.
  • Experience with TOWER and LPILE or FAD is a plus.

Description

Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (“MES”) is looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to join our team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The Transmission Line Engineer is responsible for leading the design and coordination for all aspects of work related to Line design between 40kv-230kV. You will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other applicable standards in the engineering and design of electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Design of medium and high voltage (40kv-230kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
• Prepare construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation assembly drawings.
• Prepare specifications and project design criteria.
• Provide field support during construction.
• The ideal candidate will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients as well as provide technical leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.
• Occasional travel to client and project locations will be expected.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with three (3) + years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems
• Master’s degree may be substituted for 1 year experience.
• Experience using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience with TOWER is a plus.

• EIT or PE certification is desirable

• Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus
