Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Transmission Line Project Engineer in Fargo, ND to lead technical delivery of high voltage transmission line projects. The role requires certification as a Professional Engineer and experience in the Power Market Sector, with strong CAD and design software skills.

You will manage scope, schedule, and budgets in collaboration with the PM, coordinate multi-location teams, and ensure adherence to HDR’s Quality Management System.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent recognized by the local licensing board is required.
• Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector is preferred.
• Proficiency with design software and MS Office required for daily work.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall technical direction of transmission line projects.
• Support PM with scope, schedule, and cost management.
• Coordinate resources across multiple locations and teams.
• Ensure HDR QMS compliance and deliver quality products to clients.
• Assist in quality reviews and project deliverables coordination.

HDR Engineering is looking for a Transmission Line Project Engineer in Fargo, North Dakota to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.

Primary duties of a Transmission Line Project Engineer

The primary duties of a Transmission Line Project Engineer include, in partnership with the Project Manager (PM), responsibility for technical execution of high voltage electrical transmission line projects of any size and complexity on schedule, within budget, and meeting HDR and client quality standards. A Project Engineer is responsible for technical execution of a project. Experience with overhead transmission line design and construction from 69kV thru 500kV preferred.

Specific duties include

• Leads overall technical direction of projects.
• Scope and schedule support to the PM, including work breakdown structure development and implementation, change management, and schedule management.
• Budget support to the PM for proposal development, progress assessment, and change management.
• Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
• Must thoroughly understand and implement the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client.
• Supports scheduling for and/or performs quality reviews for all deliverables. Ensures appropriate reviewer(s) are assigned.
• Participates in quality control or project reviews for peers and other project teams.
• Coordinates with operations leaders and PM for resource planning and management.
• Works independently as-required and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more EIT’s, CADD/Designers, and administrative staff.
• Independently coordinates the work of engineers and the balance of the team throughout an entire project life cycle.
• May be engaged in a mentoring/training relationship with one or more junior engineers or designers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using PLS-CADD, structure analysis, project cost estimates, plan and profile preparation, load and designs, specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for power transmission line projects.
• National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) knowledge.
• Preference will be given to local candidates.
• Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.

• Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software. (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
