Job summary

Trinetix is seeking a Senior Transmission Implementation Engineer to join our Transmissions team in the US. You will support build, expansion, and optimization of the optical transport network, focusing on DWDM infrastructure, line systems, and transponder platforms.

You will commission, migrate, and manage transmission equipment while ensuring quality documentation. Responsibilities include implementing OTNs, installing and turning up gear, migrating DWDM links, and coordinating with vendors

Qualifications

• 5+ years in telecommunications covering Plan, Build, and Operate.
• Experience with DWDM networks and transponder platforms.
• Ability to commission and turn up DWDM services.
• Proven vendor coordination and field installation support.

Responsibilities

• Lead Optical Transport Network implementation within agreed lead times.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, testing, and service turn-up.
• Perform DWDM link migrations with onsite technicians.
• Migrate services from EoL platforms.
• Collaborate with internal teams on expansion, optimization, and decommissioning.
• Coordinate with external vendors for delivery and commissioning.
• Provide logistics support for shipments between warehouses and sites.
• Maintain accurate documentation across systems and tools.
• Participate in deployment and progress meetings with vendors.

Job description

At Trinetix we are looking for a Senior Transmission Implementation Engineer to join our Transmissions team, supporting the build, expansion, and optimization of optical transport network project. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with DWDM infrastructure, optical line systems, and transponder platforms, along with a strong ability to commission, migrate, and manage transmission equipment. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure reliable and timely delivery of network capacity, while maintaining high standards of documentation and service quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Implementation: Lead the implementation of the Optical Transport Network project, ensuring delivery within agreed lead times.
• Installation & Commissioning: Oversee installation, commissioning, testing, and service turn-up of optical transmission equipment.
• DWDM Migrations: Perform DWDM link migrations in coordination with onsite technicians, including activities outside standard working hours when required.
• EoL Platform Migration: Execute migration of services from platforms approaching end-of-life (EoL).
• Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams on network expansion, optimization initiatives, and decommissioning of legacy equipment.
• Vendor Coordination: Work with external vendors to support successful delivery, installation, and commissioning of DWDM systems.
• Logistics: Provide logistics coordination for equipment shipments between warehouses and deployment sites.
• Documentation: Ensure accurate and high-quality documentation across all relevant systems and tools.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in regular deployment and progress meetings with vendors and stakeholders.

Required Skills:

• Proven Experience: 5+ years’ experience within a telecommunications company covering Plan, Build, and Operate functions.
• DWDM Expertise: Proven experience working as a DWDM Network Engineer within a telecommunications environment.
• OLS – Long Haul: Extensive configuration and troubleshooting experience with Infinera 7300, Infinera FlexILS, Nokia GX, Ciena 6500, and Ciena 6500 RLS.
• OLS – Metro: Hands-on experience with Infinera Groove G30, Nokia GX, and Ciena ELS.
• Transponder Platforms: Experience with Ciena WL5e and WL6e (C-band and L-band), and Nokia CHM6 and CHM7 series (C-band and L-band variants).
• Remote Support: Experience supporting remote installations of transponders and shelves together with onsite technicians; ability to guide onsite technicians remotely during installations and troubleshooting.
• Fibre Infrastructure: Good understanding of fibre infrastructure, including cable routing and ODF connectivity within data centre environments.
• Service Turn-Up: Proven capability to commission and turn up DWDM services.
• Spectrum Migration: Experience supporting spectrum migration activities.
• Documentation Skills: Strong documentation skills, including maintaining network inventory systems.
• Communication: Ability to clearly communicate project status and progress to internal stakeholders.
• Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of current transmission technologies and industry best practices.
