Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks an experienced electric utility designer to support the T-D electrical design group in Florida. The role focuses on underground transmission projects from 12kV to 500kV and requires knowledge of industry codes to prepare designs with calculations and reports.

You will lead design tasks, prepare complex drawings, perform calculations, coordinate deliveries, and gather on-site data. A minimum of five years of experience and an engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

  • High CAD proficiency with extensive PLS-CADD underground transmission line design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare manual or computer aided design and construction drawings with neatness and minimal errors.
  • Perform design services with full understanding of drawings, specs, and standards.

  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet schedules.

Overview

TRC is seeking an experienced electric utility designer to support our growing T‑D electrical design group. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an increasing level of experience and responsibilities in the design of underground electric transmission projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. This position will be expected to understand standard electric utility industry codes and practices to select, recommend, and prepare underground transmission line designs with associated calculations and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Shall have a thorough and detailed knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in one or more of the following areas:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Instrumentation and Control
    • Protective Relaying
    • Transmission Design
    • Substation Design
    • Civil Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Distribution Engineering
    • Surveying
    • GIS and Mapping
    • CADD
  • Shall guide, direct and perform, with a minimum of supervision, a variety of design related duties including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Prepare manual or computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors.
    • Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and Company standards covering the assigned work.
    • Take a lead role in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
    • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations.
    • Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.
    • Acquire on‑site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.
  • May serve as a Project Coordinator on certain projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • High CAD proficiency with extensive experience in PLS-CADD underground transmission line design.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
