Job summary

PowerGrid Services in the United States is seeking a skilled Lineman/Line Worker to assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of energized overhead lines. Responsibilities include setting poles, installing equipment, replacing fuses, and performing safety-conscious HV work on live systems.

The role requires PPE discipline, tool maintenance, and radio communication. Candidates should be comfortable with rigging, hand lines, Kellum grips, and identifying materials used in line work.

Qualifications

• Experience with overhead line work and safety procedures.
• Ability to work with energized HV systems.
• Familiarity with PPE inspection and hand tools.
• Ability to read and follow safety rules and tagging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work safely on energized and de-energized overhead lines during construction, maintenance, or repair.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Assist with installing transformers, arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Assist replacing fuses in transformers and clear faulted circuits.
• Work with energized HV systems requiring safety to protect all.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Check transformer voltages.
• Understand flag and tag procedures.
• Install and remove a service.
• Inspect rubber goods and PPE.
• Know when to wear PPE.
• Create and use hand lines.
• Use Kellum grips correctly.
• Identify line work materials.
• Willingness to glove/work HV transmission lines.
• Use company radio properly.
• Operate heavy equipment.
• Understand rigging, hand lines, and lineman knots.
• Proper use and maintenance of hand tools.

• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Assists with installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Assists in replacing fuses in transformers and clears faulted circuits and systems.
• Frequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Capable of checking voltage on transformers.
• Understands flag and tag procedures.
• Capable of installing and removing a service.
• Capable of properly inspecting rubber goods and PPE.
• Understands when to wear personnel protective equipment.
• Capable of creating and using a hand line.
