Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Assembly Execution Engineer for Toledo Propulsion Systems to lead the launch and execution of automatic transmission assembly programs, coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Plant Operations, Quality, and suppliers.

You will drive equipment installation, qualification, and ramp-up, ensure safety and quality, and manage PPAP deliverables while supporting continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, assembly process engineering, equipment installation, or launch execution.
• Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, contractors, and plant operations.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, tooling, automation, and launch activities.
• Understanding of PPAP, control plans, PFMEA, standardized work, and problem solving.
• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to mitigate safety risks.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project execution skills.
• Ability to work on the plant floor across shifts; occasional off-shift/weekend support.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, integration, commissioning, and optimization of assembly machinery and tooling.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and plant personnel to ensure safe, on-schedule installations.
• Support equipment acceptance, safety reviews, and process qualification prior to production.
• Develop and track execution deliverables, plans, risks, and recovery actions.
• Support build events, trial runs, and ramp-up activities.
• Partner with Quality and Plant teams to identify process risks and establish robust controls.
• Prepare PPAP documentation and related manufacturing deliverables.
• Verify assembly processes meet safety, quality, and throughput expectations.
• Lead structured problem-solving activities for equipment and process issues.
• Review engineering changes and ensure timely implementation.
• Communicate program status and countermeasures to stakeholders.
• Promote standardized work and continuous improvement across programs.
