Job summary

The DeLong Co., Inc. seeks an experienced Transloading Superintendent to lead its import cargo transloading operations in Newark, NJ.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in transloading, bulk material handling, logistics, or related operations.
  • Supervisory experience in industrial or transportation operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and cargo tracking.
  • Working knowledge of railcar loading procedures and truck logistics.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of employees and external customers.
  • Solid understanding of facility equipment and maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other computer programs.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.

The Work Environment

Role: This is an active, hands‑on leadership role at a working transload facility. You will be on your feet supervising inbound and outbound operations, ensuring quality control, and keeping cargo — and your team — moving safely and efficiently.

  • Outdoor work across all seasons and weather conditions, plus dusty industrial environments
  • Activity around heavy equipment, railcars, and trucks — safety awareness is essential and rewarded here
  • A fast‑paced, team‑driven atmosphere with typical 40–45 hour weeks; peak periods may require extended hours and weekends
  • Physical work including repeated lifting up to 40 lbs, climbing ladders, and working at heights as required
Requirements
Required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in transloading, bulk material handling, logistics, or related operations
  • Supervisory experience in industrial or transportation operations
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and cargo tracking
  • Working knowledge of railcar loading procedures and truck logistics
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of employees and external customers
  • Solid understanding of facility equipment and maintenance programs

Preferred
  • Above-average understanding of electronics — computers, networks, cameras, and communication devices
  • Above-average understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance
  • Experience with aggregate products and bulk material handling
  • Experience with import documentation and cargo compliance
  • Heavy industrial equipment experience
  • Conflict resolution skills, internal and external
  • Business development experience
  • Associate degree in a related field, OSHA 30, and/or Six Sigma Greenbelt
