As a Transload Operator / Railcar Unloader, you'll play a key role in the safe and efficient unloading of railcars, transferring bulk dry materials to trucks or directly into the facility. This is a physically active role that requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This is a non-exempt, full-time position scheduled Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturday work required for maintenance. No previous experience is necessary-we're willing to train the right candidate.
A candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United State, speak English, have basic math and computer experience and possess a valid driver's license. Starting pay for this position is $20.00/hour. See the job description for more information on the position.

Job Requirements
- Responsible for the timely unloading of materials consisting of bulk dry product.
- Must possess the ability to understand and follow operating instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to learn to operate railcar unloading systems and equipment.
- Perform work safely and productively.
- Must be interested in and willing to be cross trained on all functions at the facility.
- Must have the physical strength to perform required duties of the position.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and projects.
- Ability to understand and communicate with management and co-workers in order to carry out the duties and tasks assigned. (Communication Proficiency)
- Ability to speak English. (Customer/Client Focus)
- Performs materials handling and storage.
- Ensures that property safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Brings problems to the attention of the Manager or Supervisor.
- Teamwork with ability to operate on own initiative.
- Highly disciplined to follow through with assignments and tasks.
- Knowledge of ready-mix operations or ability to be trained.
- Adheres to safety requirements and procedures and wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Unloading of product daily from railcars or as needed.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow policies and procedures in order to complete the required duties.
- Must be able to read write and comprehend English in order to perform the essential duties of this position.
- Basic math and computer skills are essential.
- Operate railcar loading and unloading systems and equipment. (Conveyors, hoists, other specialized material handling equipment including railroad car unloading equipment)
- Verify tank car or truck load numbers to ensure car placement accuracy based on written or verbal instructions.
- Operate industrial trucks, tractors, loaders, and other equipment to transport materials in order to store or retrieve materials as needed.
- Check conditions and weights of vehicles to ensure cleanliness and compliance with procedures.
- Monitor product movement to and from storage to ensure constant product flow as needed.
- Lower gauge rods into tanks to read and verify contents, temperatures, and volume of loads.
- Perform general warehouse or company activities such as opening containers, filing orders or paperwork as needed, and assist in taking inventory.
- Remove or replace car dome caps or direct other workers in the removal and replacement.
- Connect ground cables to carry off static electricity when unloading railcars.
- Test vehicles for leaks, damages, and defects and repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
- Unload cars containing product by connecting hoses to outlet plugs and pumping compressed air into cars to force product from railcars.
- Copy and attach load specifications to loaded tanks.
- Operate conveyors to transfer material from transportation vehicles.
- Observe position of cars passing loading and unloading spouts in order to maneuver spouts into correct positions at appropriate times.
- Seal outlet valves on tank cars.
- Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment and assist with handyman duties within the facility (general maintenance, upkeep, painting, etc. as needed).
- Must be able to interact with other co-workers, customers, railroad car crews, and visitors and meet customer needs.
- Must be open to working weekends, after-hour duty. Overtime work is very possible if required by the Manager.
- Perform various other tasks, activities, duties or responsibilities required by the position.
- Duties may change at any time with or without notice.
Physical Requirements
- Lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions.
- The employee will be required to push, lift, pull, or carry objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide physical support to operations as needed. (A copy of the physical assessment for this position can be requested through Dodge City Concrete)
- Good manual dexterity (hand with arm, two hands, and multi-limb coordination).
- Excellent stamina.
We do conduct pre-screening drug and alcohol testing.
