This position involves providing translation services for individuals with language barriers, covering areas such as education, legal, medical, environmental, and social services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately translate spoken language in lectures, conversations, and meetings.
• Use technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings.
• Read original documents and translate into the required language.
• Edit translated materials.
• Be sensitive to cultural nuances during translation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, BA degree, or equivalent experience.
• Foreign Service Institute certification.
• Certified Translation Professional, ATA Certification, or other translation certifications.
• Experience with agencies like the State Department, health, legal, or housing sectors.
• Fluency in one or more of the listed languages, including Swahili.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Discretion, impartiality, and proficiency in written communication.
• Cultural awareness and social sensitivity.
• Physical stamina for extended sessions.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe tools.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

• Remote work environment.
• On-call availability with 48 hours' notice for potential jobs.
• Ability to work long hours, possibly including holidays and travel.

Compensation: USD $45.00 - USD $65.00 per hour.
