Wycliffe Associates is working on Bible translation projects for deaf and blind individuals worldwide, using a process called SUN (Symbolic Universal Notation), a symbol-based writing system that provides the deaf and deaf-blind with immediate access to Scripture.

Approximately 600,000 people globally are both deaf and blind. Since they cannot use audio, a system was needed to bring Scriptures to them. The idea was to use universally recognized pictures and symbols to convey meaning, leading to the development of SUN.

We are seeking native or bilingual Cebuano speakers who can translate an English training manual into Cebuano. These manuals will aid teachers working with the deaf and blind in Cebuano-speaking regions. Basic computer skills, fluency in English and Cebuano, and familiarity with Word and Excel are required. The work is remote, involving about 10-12 hours per week, and can be completed from home with internet access. The manual is 26 pages long, and we hope for the volunteer to serve until the project is completed, which may take a few months. This is a volunteer opportunity to help bring the Gospel to the deaf and blind using your language skills.
