Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Medical Director for Translational Medicine & Early Clinical Development to lead first-in-human and mechanistic studies in cardiometabolic and liver conditions.

You will design study concepts, oversee biomarker programs, and provide medical oversight while partnering with Clinical Operations and CROs. The role also includes mentoring junior scientists and shaping the translational operating model.

Qualifications

• MD with clinical training in a relevant specialty (hepatology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiology, or internal medicine).
• 15+ years industry experience in clinical development with proven leadership of early phase interventional trials.
• Strong translational medicine/biomarker-driven development track record; metabolic liver/cardiometabolic experience preferred.
• Regulatory interaction experience (early development/biomarkers) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as global medical lead/medical monitor for early phase studies (FIH, PoC) in MASH and related conditions.
• Lead study concept/protocol design: patient populations, endpoints, and biomarker sub-studies.
• Provide medical oversight: eligibility review, safety monitoring, dose decisions, and data interpretation.
• Partner with Clinical Operations and CROs for execution and inspection-readiness.
• Define/own translational strategy; integrate PK/PD, biomarkers, imaging, and outcomes.
• Oversee clinical biomarker plans; drive biospecimen banking and analyses.
• Chair translational working groups; collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Safety, and Commercial.
• Contribute to key documents (IB, CSR, regulatory materials, publications) and present work internally/externally.
• Mentor junior physicians/PhD scientists; evolve translational operating model.
