Job summary

The Lynch Laboratory at UC San Francisco seeks an Assistant Professional Researcher to advance translational research in analytical chemistry using LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS. The role includes independent and collaborative projects measuring drugs, biomarkers, and endogenous compounds in biological specimens.

You will lead method development and validation, oversee instrumentation and data workflows, mentor junior researchers, and coordinate federally funded collaborations and clinical studies,

Qualifications

• PhD and post‑doctoral experience in analytical science fields.
• Extensive hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS instrumentation.
• Experience in mass spectrometry method development, optimization, and validation for small molecules in biological matrices.
• Strong organizational, project‑management, communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent and collaborative translational research using LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS to measure drugs, metabolites, biomarkers, and other endogenous and exogenous compounds in biological specimens.
• Develop, validate, and apply targeted and broad-spectrum mass spectrometry methods.
• Provide scientific leadership and manage LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS instrumentation, troubleshooting, maintenance, data workflows, SOPs, and training of laboratory users.
• Coordinate collaborative research projects, including federally funded grants, industry-sponsored studies, and clinical trials.
