Job description

Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to supervise the staff and all social worker activities and programs at the E. Claire Raley Transitional Living Center. These programs provide a safety net, self‑sufficiency services, and housing assistance to families and individuals in need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the oversight of program‑related functions to ensure adherence to The Salvation Army's guidelines and procedures.
  • Supervise all case management activities at the Transitional Living Center.
  • Ensure provision of emergency assistance services to Family Services.
  • Assign and supervise daily tasks to social workers involved in day‑to‑day program activities.
  • Manage logs, reports, and client files.
  • Manage the quality and quantity of client case management appointments.
  • Coordinate activities of staff providing assistance and case management to clients.
  • Manage staff compiling client information, entering and creating HMIS and Bridges reports for all clients.
  • Prepare records and monthly reports for the Social Services Administrator and Business Administrator.
  • Ensure monthly reports are completed and provided to related agencies and staff in a timely manner.
  • Review case records, evaluate staff performance and recommend actions.
  • Train new employees in agency policy, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a community referral list of resources, organizations, agencies, and continuum of care.
  • Provide general support to the Social Services Administrator and other management personnel.
  • Coordinate with the Business Administrator the process of assistance reports.
  • Assist with personnel paperwork, work‑comp claims in conjunction with the Social Services Administrator and HR Contact.
  • Work with Facilities Administration to ensure property upkeep and timely repair communication.
  • Provide support with special assignments and any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two to three years of experience with The Salvation Army Social Services programs.
  • Supervisory experience and skills highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of computers preferred (Word, Excel, database).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Ability to write materials and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Bi‑lingual English–Spanish preferred; other languages a plus.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of cultural customs in the Sacramento community.
  • Valid California Class C driver’s license and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Authorization to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program.
  • Completion of the Salvation Army vehicle course training.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Physical requirements: operation of telephone, lift up to 25 lbs, operate a computer, process written/visual/verbal information, use basic office equipment (PC, fax, telephone, calculator, copier, printer).
