Job summary

Sac and Fox Tribe of Iowa is seeking a Transitional Housing Specialist for Meskwaki Family Services to deliver trauma-informed housing support and planning toward stable, permanent housing for survivors.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and three years of case management or related experience, strong communication, and willingness to work evenings/weekends, travel as needed, and engage with tribal partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with 3 years of case management or related experience.
  • Grant writing and reporting experience is desirable.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to learn and apply skills in the Meskwaki cultural context.
  • Must be on call in evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed housing services to transitional housing families.
  • Develop individualized housing and service plans toward permanent housing stability.
  • Monitor and evaluate program participant progress.
  • Serve as primary contact for housing assistance from survivors and community partners.
  • Develop partnerships with housing and community providers to assist survivors in housing.
  • Transport victims to appointments and necessary engagements.
  • Prepare periodic reports (monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/annual).
  • Create culturally appropriate educational material for community partners.
  • Attend conferences and workshops on housing issues.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Transitional Housing Specialist DEPARTMENT: Meskwaki Family Services

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide trauma informed comprehensive services to transitional housing families.
  • Developing individualized housing and service plans, including planning a path to permanent housing stability.
  • Monitor and evaluate program participant progress
  • Serve as primary contact for housing assistance from both survivors and community partners
  • Develop partnerships with housing and community providers to assist survivors in housing
  • Troubleshooting technical housing issues as they arise with staff, victim advocates, and victims accessing housing programs
  • Providing information and referrals to other providers or programs
  • Providing ongoing risk assessment and safety planning with participants
  • Transport victims to and from necessary appointments including daily needs, medical, legal, law enforcement, court, etc.
  • Attend conferences and workshops related to housing issues concerning victims of crime.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports.
  • Assist with capacity building and research to further develop the Transitional Housing program.
  • Create and present culturally appropriate educational material regarding domestic violence to community partners including area schools, Meskwaki Community, and Tribal employees
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or other closely related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of case management, working with victims of crime, and public speaking/educational experience.
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting is desirable.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate skills in the cultural context of the Meskwaki Community.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and positive interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Must be willing to be on call evenings and weekends.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, internet, email, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.

SUPERVISION: Supervised by RISE Manager

SALARY LEVEL: Annual Salary Range: $43,472 - $59,904
