Job description

Job Title: Supervisor of Transition Classrooms

FLSA: Exempt

Reports To: Director

Department: Transition

Summary

The supervisor will provide direct support to transition classroom staff and school district contacts. Promote advanced understanding and application of Trauma-Informed Care and Brain Resiliency. Maintain personal growth through established development goals. Laurel Life expects employees to incorporate trauma-informed principles in all aspects of service delivery, including attending trainings and applying evidence-based practices. Trauma-informed care emphasizes cultural sensitivity and a safe, respectful environment for all clients and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the efficacy of the Transition Program model across locations and grade levels.
  2. Conduct regular visits and observations of transition classrooms.
  3. Follow up with staff regarding visit and observation results.
  4. Coordinate staff activities, clarify roles, and ensure task completion.
  5. Manage staff through performance coaching, support, and leadership.
  6. Collaborate with districts and agencies; perform marketing and public relations to grow programs.
  7. Develop team operating plans, performance milestones, and assign tasks.
  8. Compile and quantify data related to program outcomes.
  9. Prepare and review data for marketing and review purposes monthly.
  10. Identify staffing needs, assist in hiring, and evaluate staff performance.
  11. Support the team’s mission and goals, fostering trust and cooperation.
  12. Maintain communication with program staff and organizational policies.
  13. Attend required meetings and trainings for professional growth.
  14. Reinforce organizational core values and mission, helping define team vision and goals.
  15. Model professional, respectful, and responsible behavior, including empathy and boundary maintenance.
  16. Complete and maintain ESPI training certification, using techniques in compliance with policies and guidelines.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Skills

Expertise in classroom management, Trauma-Informed Care, and Brain Science Resiliency. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to identify causes of issues and recommend behavioral change methods. Team-oriented attitude.

Education

Knowledge of behavior management and crisis intervention, acquired through:

  • Masters Level Therapist with 2 years of experience in a Transition Classroom and 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Certified Teacher with 2 years of classroom instruction and 1 year supervisory experience or mentorship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in Transition Classrooms and 1 year supervisory or mentorship experience.
Working Conditions
