Employment Type: Part-Time, Project-Based

Meaningful, Active Work With No Two Days the Same

Are you dependable, physically capable, adaptable, and willing to jump in wherever a team needs help?

Caring Transitions is seeking a versatile Transition Services Field Associate to support senior moves, downsizing projects, resettling, estate auctions, packing, cleanouts, auction pickups, and other hands-on client services.

This is not a traditional warehouse job, moving job, or desk job.

One day you may help pack a client’s home. The next day you may unpack and organize a senior’s new apartment, prepare an estate for online auction, load purchased merchandise for buyers, organize a garage, or help clear a property so it is ready for sale.

The work is physical and fast-moving, but it also requires patience, professionalism, and compassion. Our clients are often navigating an emotional or stressful transition. We need team members who can work hard while treating every person and every possession with respect.

About Caring Transitions

Caring Transitions helps seniors, families, estate representatives, and other clients manage downsizing, relocation, estate liquidation, and major life transitions.

Our goal is not simply to move belongings. We help clients make an overwhelming transition feel organized, manageable, and respectful.

What You’ll Do

Assignments vary by project and may include the following:

Downsizing and Sorting
  • Help clients and Project Leads sort household belongings.
  • Separate items designated for relocation, family, auction, donation, recycling, or disposal.
  • Organize rooms, closets, garages, sheds, basements, and storage areas.
  • Label, stage, and move items into the correct project areas.
  • Protect important documents, valuables, photographs, and sentimental belongings by promptly notifying the Project Lead when they are found.
Packing and Move Preparation
  • Pack household goods carefully using approved materials and methods.
  • Label boxes clearly and maintain room-by-room organization.
  • Prepare clothing, kitchenware, décor, books, and household belongings for relocation.
  • Assist with basic furniture preparation or disassembly when trained and assigned.
  • Carry boxes and supplies within the home and between the project site and vehicles.
  • Work professionally alongside moving companies and other service partners.
Unpacking and Resettling
  • Unpack boxes at a client’s new residence.
  • Organize kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and living areas.
  • Place belongings according to the project plan and client preferences.
  • Make beds and help establish a safe, comfortable, functional home.
  • Hang lightweight décor or pictures when trained and assigned.
  • Remove packing materials and leave the residence orderly.
  • Help create a “Day One Living” experience rather than leaving the client surrounded by boxes.
Estate Auction Support
  • Sort and organize items being prepared for online auction.
  • Move merchandise into photography, staging, storage, or pickup areas.
  • Assist with basic lot preparation and photography when trained.
  • Label and organize auction merchandise accurately.
  • Stage sold items for bidder pickup.
  • Greet buyers, locate purchases, verify release information, and assist with loading.
  • Help prepare items for local delivery or shipment when assigned.
Cleanouts and Project Completion
  • Separate and load items designated for donation, recycling, disposal, or other approved destinations.
  • Help clear remaining contents from homes, garages, sheds, attics, basements, and storage areas.
  • Sweep or perform light project cleanup as assigned.
  • Help leave properties safe, orderly, and ready for the client’s next step.
  • Follow all directions regarding property that must remain in the home.
Client and Team Support
  • Provide respectful, patient, and professional service.
  • Follow instructions from the Project Lead and communicate clearly with teammates.
  • Adapt when schedules, priorities, or project conditions change.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding clients, family situations, homes, possessions, and project information.
  • Follow safety protocols, company procedures, and client-specific instructions.
  • Perform other related project duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For

A strong candidate will be:

  • Dependable, punctual, and responsive.
  • Honest and trustworthy in private homes and estate environments.
  • Physically capable and willing to perform active work.
  • Positive and willing to help without repeatedly being asked.
  • Able to work efficiently and with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Calm and respectful around seniors, families, buyers, and service partners.
  • Flexible when plans or priorities change.
  • Able to solve routine problems and bring larger concerns to the Project Lead.
  • Coachable and open to constructive feedback.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Careful with other people’s belongings.
  • Able to follow directions, labels, floor plans, and project systems accurately.
  • Professional in appearance, language, and conduct.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of residential environments.

Experience in moving, packing, senior services, home organization, estate sales, warehousing, delivery, customer service, hospitality, caregiving, construction, landscaping, or similar hands-on work is helpful but not required.

We will train the right person.

This Position Requires More Than Physical Strength

Strength and stamina are important, but they are not enough.

The right person understands that:

  • A box may contain irreplaceable family memories.
  • A client may be anxious, grieving, embarrassed, or overwhelmed.
  • A senior’s new apartment should feel like home—not like a storage unit.
  • Property must never be removed, discarded, donated, or sold without authorization.
  • Clients and coworkers deserve patience and respect even on difficult days.

We are looking for someone who can safely move a box, carefully organize a kitchen, speak kindly to a client, solve a practical problem, and shift to a new assignment without unnecessary drama.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Team members must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Repeatedly bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs.
  • Regularly lift and carry boxes or household items weighing up to approximately 40–50 pounds.
  • Assist with heavier or awkward items using safe team-lifting techniques and approved equipment.
  • Carry supplies and boxes within homes, senior communities, garages, storage areas, and project sites.
  • Work in homes and outbuildings that may be dusty, cluttered, dirty, hot, cold, or without full climate control.
  • Work occasionally in garages, sheds, basements, attics, porches, workshops, and outdoor areas.
  • Wear company-provided or required protective equipment when appropriate.

We may use professional movers for furniture, appliances, specialty items, and other belongings that should not be handled by our field team alone.

Employees must follow safe-lifting instructions and may not attempt unsafe lifts simply to complete a task faster.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential job duties.

Technology Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Own a dependable smartphone with data access.
  • Use a smartphone for scheduling, timekeeping, team communication, project information, and occasional auction-related tasks.
  • Respond to scheduling and project communications within required timeframes.
  • Be willing to learn company applications and processes.
Schedule and Availability

This is a part-time, on-call, project-based position with variable hours.

  • Hours depend on client demand, project schedules, employee availability, and required skills.
  • Weekly hours are not guaranteed.
  • Some weeks may provide substantial hours, while other weeks may provide limited or no hours.
  • Most projects take place Monday through Friday during daytime business hours.
  • Typical start times may be between approximately 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.
  • Project end times vary based on the work required that day.
  • Occasional early mornings, evenings, Saturdays, or Sundays may be required.
  • Team members must provide accurate availability and be dependable once they accept an assignment.
  • Schedule flexibility and wide-ranging daytime availability will make an employee eligible for more assignments.

This position is best suited for someone who wants meaningful supplemental work and can accommodate a changing project schedule.

Required Qualifications
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Consistently reliable transportation to changing project locations.
  • Dependable smartphone with data access.
  • Strong verbal English communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with company policies.
  • Willingness to travel throughout our service area and occasionally to nearby communities.
What We Offer
  • Paid, hands-on training.
  • Flexible, project-based scheduling.
  • Company-provided branded shirt or apparel.
  • Active work that keeps you moving rather than sitting behind a desk.
  • A wide variety of assignments and project environments.
  • The opportunity to make a direct difference for seniors and families.
  • A supportive local team backed by a nationally recognized brand.
  • Opportunities to learn multiple sides of estate services, moving, resettling, and online auctions.
  • Potential advancement into senior team-member, project-support, or Team Lead responsibilities based on performance, reliability, judgment, availability, and business needs.
What Success Looks Like

A successful Transition Services Field Associate:

  • Arrives on time and ready to work.
  • Follows directions and completes assignments without constant reminders.
  • Works productively while protecting client property.
  • Notices what needs to be done and offers appropriate help.
  • Adjusts when a project changes.
  • Treats clients, buyers, service partners, and coworkers respectfully.
  • Uses safe lifting and working practices.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Helps the Project Lead finish jobs on schedule.
  • Becomes someone the team is genuinely relieved to see assigned to a project.
