Job summary

South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is hiring to support transition students through Pre-Employment Transition Services and job placement programs. You will work with counselors and employers to arrange work-based learning experiences, coach students in summer programs, and provide ongoing job search support and follow-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology; two years of rehab or related experience.
• A high school diploma and related experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
• Master's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with counselors to assist with Pre-Employment Transition Services for transition students.
• Coordinate with the Business Development Specialist to secure work-based learning experiences for transition students.
• Assist in coaching and monitoring students in JRT services during summer.
• Prepare consumers for effective job search with instruction, resources and networking.
• Provide direct job placement and follow-up for student consumers.
• Support students needing supported employment services with job coaching and related supports.
• Provide ongoing support during student job transitions and monitor progress.
• Provide job coaching for applicants in Trial Work Experiences (TWE).

Education

Bachelor's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology

High school diploma with related experience substitution

Master's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology (preferred)

• Coordinating with the Business Development Specialist (BDS) to make new and existing employer contacts to secure work-based learning experiences, to include job shadowing, job tryout, internship, summer employment, school-based work experiences and other community-based evaluation opportunities for transition students.
• Assisting in coaching and monitoring students participating in JRT services during the summer.
• Preparing consumers to have an effective job search by providing instruction, personal and peer support, networking opportunities, and provision of employment resources.
• Providing direct job placement and follow-up for all student consumers who require assistance.
• Supporting students identified as requiring supported employment services by providing job coaching support services and supported employment services such as job matching, job analysis, intensive on-the-job training, social skills training, identification of natural supports, and follow up services including assisting in the identification of an extended service provider.
• Providing on-going support during the transition of student's initial job adjustment and monitor progress regarding work performance and document consumer's adjustment.
• Providing job coaching for applicants participating in Trial Work Experiences (TWE).
