Job summary

Walnut Valley Unified School District is seeking a skilled bus and automotive mechanic for its Transportation Department. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing gasoline, CNG and diesel-powered vehicles, with emphasis on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. You will perform road tests and document repair costs, working 9:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a journey-level gasoline, CNG and diesel powered automotive mechanic.
• Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by training or coursework in gasoline, electric, diesel, CNG or alternative fueled motorized equipment repair, overhaul and maintenance.
• Possession of a valid California Class A or B driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair mechanical defects on buses and other motorized equipment.
• Review repair orders and determine priority work assignments.
• Rebuilds, replaces or overhauls engines, transmissions, brakes and related components.
• Perform road tests to ensure repairs are completed and equipment operates properly.
• Maintain records of time and material costs for repairs.
