Job summary

City of Billings is seeking a semi-skilled maintenance worker to inspect, service, and maintain transit system vehicles, buildings, and grounds under general supervision.

Responsibilities include servicing vehicles, cleaning interiors/exteriors, assisting mechanics, and overseeing facilities and safety compliance. Position requires flexibility with a varied schedule and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years’ facility maintenance experience, or equivalent.
• Low Pressure Boiler License or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Completion of State of Montana Underground Storage Tank Certification within 90 days of employment.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Federal and State criminal background check and a driving record check.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and maintain transit system vehicles, buildings, and grounds.
• Perform vehicle servicing including fueling, fluids, and interior/exterior cleaning.
• Assist mechanics and move equipment on MET property.
• Maintain facility systems including boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and alarms.
• Open/close facilities daily, supervise others as needed, and ensure safety protocols.
