Job summary

The City of Jefferson is accepting applications for a Transit Services Worker. This part-time with benefit position performs semi-skilled work in the care of buses, equipment, and facilities, including interior cleaning, fueling, and light maintenance.

Work hours typically 7.0 hours/day, Monday through Friday, within 10 AM to 7 PM window. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license; ability to obtain Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in light maintenance and care of large automotive equipment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Washes buses' exterior using an automated wash facility and steam cleaners.
• Cleans buses' interiors.
• Fuels and checks fluid levels of transit vehicles.
• Delivers replacement vehicles to operators in route.
• Maintains shop spaces and grounds.
• Performs related tasks as required.

• Washes buses' exterior using an automated wash facility and steam cleaners.
• Cleans buses' interiors.
• Fuels and checks fluid level of transit vehicles.
• Delivers replacement vehicles to operators in route.
• Maintains shop spaces and grounds.
• Performs related tasks as required.

High school diploma or equivalent, experience in light maintenance, care and operation of large automotive equipment preferred.

Must possess a valid drivers' license and the ability to obtain a class B CDL within 6 months of hire.

Physical:

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Skills:

General knowledge of the operation and routine cleaning requirements of transit passenger buses; general knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing passenger bus operations on public streets; general knowledge of routine maintenance and repair work and of the use of common hand tools; skill in the safe operation of passenger buses and the automated wash facility; ability to perform manual labor; ability to follow oral and written instructions.This position will work 7 - 7.5 hours a day, Monday - Friday and work between the hours of 10AM to 7PM.
