Job summary

Metra Police Officers are sworn officers responsible for safeguarding the Metra rail system, maintaining order, and providing testimony and first aid as needed.

Reporting to the Chief of Police, you will patrol facilities, conduct preliminary investigations, respond to emergencies, and work within the six-county region. Applicants must be Illinois-certified officers and meet background requirements.

Qualifications

• Illinois certified Police Officer or eligible for waiver.
• Travel within Metra’s 6-county region.
• Available on-call 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive policing, enforce laws and ordinances, and apprehend criminals.
• Patrol rail yards, stations, and other Metra properties.
• Render first aid and provide testimony in court as needed.
• Conduct preliminary criminal and fatality investigations and collect evidence.
