Job summary

SMART's Planning Department is seeking a student intern to support the micro-transit shuttle program (SMART Connect) and other Planning Department projects. This opportunity provides exposure to both office and field work.

The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a voter-approved transit project; interns engage in transportation planning support, liaising with local jurisdictions and agencies. The role emphasizes data, research, and field activities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed degree in Urban Studies, Public Policy, Public Administration, Planning, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the SMART Connect micro-transit shuttle program, including service planning and scheduling, data analysis, customer service, community outreach, and transit operations.
• Assist with planning projects, including research and information gathering, data preparation/input and data management.
• Perform field work in support of micro-transit shuttle program.
• Assist with Planning Department file and document organization.
• May support other Agency departments as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
