Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee in New York City is seeking an Outreach Specialist for Transit Homeless Outreach. This field-based role engages directly with individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, providing hands-on support to connect them with housing and services.

You’ll conduct street-based outreach at transit locations, complete brief assessments, and document interactions while collaborating with partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills essential.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across boroughs required.
• Basic computer skills needed to document outreach activities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct street-based outreach in transit locations with compassion.
• Connect clients to housing, medical, mental health, and substance use services.
• Complete brief assessments, provide escorts, and make referrals.
• Document outreach activity and client interactions.
• Work primarily at high-need transit areas and collaborate with partner agencies.
