Job description

Join our team as a Full-time Transit Operator (Non-CDL) and help transport passengers safely across Fredericksburg and surrounding counties. The starting pay is $16.16/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Drive transit buses on assigned routes within the City and Counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Fredericksburg.
2. Ensure the safe transport of all passengers.
3. Monitor and manage passenger behavior on the bus.
4. Assist passengers as needed.
5. Perform daily vehicle inspections, fueling, and cleaning to maintain safe operating conditions.
6. Complete related tasks as directed.

Minimum Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Bus driver training and at least one year of experience driving a commercial or passenger vehicle.
3. Ability to pass a DOT physical and maintain it during employment.
4. Pass a criminal record check and physical abilities testing.
5. Pass CPR, First Aid, Passenger Assistance, and Safety tests.
6. No felony or substance abuse convictions within the last 10 years.
7. No DWI convictions.
8. Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends and evenings.

Additional Information:

1. Rigorous background checks, including criminal history, driving records, and employment verification.
2. Employment contingent upon passing a post-offer physical exam and drug testing, with ongoing random drug testing per DOT requirements.
3. Training provided to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with a one-year commitment to the City of Fredericksburg.
