Eagle County Government is hiring Transit Mechanics at two levels to service and maintain the local bus fleet in our mountain communities. The role offers a clear growth path with a 4-10 schedule and flexible after training, plus on-site employee housing.
You’ll work to keep the system safe, dependable, and efficient in Eagle County, CO. The positions require 1+ year of maintenance experience, a valid license, and the potential to obtain a CDL within 12 months with company support.

As a Transit Mechanic, you will service and maintain the Core Transit fleet, ensuring our local bus system remains safe, dependable, and efficient. We are hiring one candidate at either the Mechanic I or Mechanic II level, depending on qualifications—offering a great path for growth within Eagle County Government.
Salary Ranges:
Mechanic I: $30-$41.50
Mechanic II: $32-$45
Schedule: 4-10’s. First year: Mon-Thurs, 8am-6:30pm. After training: Either Sun-Wed or Wed-Sat, 8am-6:30pm with some flexibility available. On-call work and overtime sometimes needed.
Employee housing available!
What you’ll do: Perform PM services, inspect operating/air systems, assist with road service, replace wheels/tires, and learn advanced diagnostics alongside experienced mechanics.

Perfect if you are a skilled mechanic with 3+ years of experience performing full A/B/C PM services, electronic scanner diagnostics, system overhauls, and welding/fabrication.
What you’ll do: Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic system failures, perform annual DOT inspections, use electronic scanners/schematics to troubleshoot, and handle emergency call-outs/road repairs.
