Job summary

Ben Franklin Transit is seeking a maintenance technician to inspect, repair and maintain transit facilities, bus stops, and shelters. The role covers electrical, plumbing, HVAC work, and basic building upkeep with safety in mind.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED plus an apprenticeship and 3+ years in building maintenance; a valid driver’s license is required. You’ll work on-site with diverse teams and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with an apprenticeship in electrical, plumbing, painting, or carpentry plus three years’ general building maintenance experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain preventative and corrective maintenance for electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
• Inspect buildings, bus shelters, and grounds for safety and proper operation; report risks.
• Repair/build and maintain transit properties, shelters, signs, and fixtures.
• Coordinate space planning, office moves, and furniture arrangements.
• Operate and maintain non-revenue company vehicles and required tools.

Education

High School Diploma or G.E.D. + apprentice program in electrical, plumbing, painting, or carpentry + 3 years general building maintenance experience

Tools

Valid driver’s license

First Aid certification (or within 180 days)

Forklift certification (or within 180 days)
