Job summary

The Arc Mid-Hudson is seeking a Public Transportation Driver for Greene County Transit. You will transport passengers under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, follow NYS laws, and maintain a high level of safety and professionalism.

This role requires a valid NYS CDL with Passenger Endorsement, 1+ year driving experience, and the ability to operate a wheelchair lift when needed. Training and adherence to schedules are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State driver’s license meeting insurable criteria
• NYS CDL A, B, or C with Passenger Endorsement
• One or more years driving experience
• Computer literate and able to learn reporting programs
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disability preferred
• Able to operate wheelchair lift and secure wheelchairs
• Must pass annual FTA/DOT physical and NYS DMV 19-A tests
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing as required
• Able to follow a regular route on a timetable
• Dress code/uniform required

Responsibilities

• Drive transit vehicles and adhere to routes and schedules
• Ensure safety and comfort of passengers
• Provide behind-the-wheel training to new non-CDL drivers
• Evaluate runs and roadway conditions and report to Transportation Supervisor
• Assist disabled passengers and provide transfers as needed
• Collect fares and sell tickets as applicable
• Notify supervisor of incidents, delays, or accidents
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform pre/post trip inspections
• Wear uniform and maintain professional appearance
• Answer questions about schedules, routes, and transfer points
• Report emergencies or mechanical problems to dispatcher
• Complete incident and vehicle collision reports
• Comply with weather-related driving standards
