Job summary

City of Joplin, MO is seeking a Public Transit Driver to operate a trolley on designated routes and assist passengers, including many elderly or disabled riders. This full-time position follows a 4‑day week with varied shifts from early morning to evening.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, securing mobility devices, inspecting vehicles, collecting fares, and communicating with dispatch. A Class E license and a clean driving record are required; CDL with passenger/airbrake endorsements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSet required.
• Professional driving experience with a good driving record required.
• Possess and maintain a Class E Operator's License; CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
• Knowledge of public transportation safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates public transportation vehicles and assists riders with mobility devices.
• Secures wheeled mobility devices using safety equipment after boarding and before departure.
• Follows daily manifest for scheduled trips and maintains punctual service.
• Inspects vehicles before/after shifts; cleans interior and reports hazards.
• Accepts fares and accounts for money per City policy.
• Communicates effectively with riders and dispatch; assists in emergencies.
• Contributes to Public Works and maintains satisfactory attendance.
