Job summary

SSTJOBS is seeking a Transit Bus Mechanic for a direct hire in Elkridge, MD. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing transit buses, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems, with emphasis on safety-critical components like brakes and HVAC.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years of transit bus maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement. ASE certifications are preferred, with opportunities for ongoing training and growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• 3+ years as a mechanic with transit bus maintenance experience (required).
• Valid driver’s license and Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
• ASE Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on transit buses including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Inspect and maintain buses to ensure safe operation of brakes, steering, suspension and HVAC systems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, and lubrication.
• Coordinate with Lead Mechanic to schedule repairs and communicate issues with vendors for specialized repairs.
• Maintain accurate work orders and participate in ongoing training on new bus technologies.
