Job summary

The City of Janesville, Wisconsin, is seeking a Transit Bus Operator to run designated routes safely and courteously.

Under the direction of the Transit Operations Supervisor, you will provide excellent customer service, conduct pre-trip inspections, handle fares, and ensure on-time performance while complying with all safety rules and procedures. This role requires a valid CDL with passenger endorsement and a strong driving record.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Minimum of three (3) years of driving experience is required.
Possession or ability to obtain and maintain a CDL with passenger endorsement within 45 days of hire.
Excellent driving record.
Experience transporting passengers is desired.
A valid state-issued driver’s license is required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Daily bus driving on designated routes, with safety as the first priority.
Provide excellent customer service to the public.
Handle fares, provide route and scheduling information, and perform pre-trip inspections.
Secure mobility devices safely on buses.
Report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned or required, including non-business hours.
