Westinghouse Electric Company, based in Cranberry Township, PA, seeks a Senior Transient Analysis Engineer to perform design basis safety analysis for non-LOCA transients in a hybrid onsite role, reporting to the Transient Analysis / Safety Analysis / Risk Applications management.

The role leads thermal-hydraulic modeling, licensing analyses, and plant-specific safety activities, coordinating with internal/external stakeholders and guiding engineering teams toward compliant, robust safety

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of applicable nuclear safety analysis.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to communicate issues.
• Beneficial: interest in software programming and code development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and assessment of thermal-hydraulic models for safety analysis.
• Lead reload safety evaluations for each plant cycle.
• Lead plant-specific licensing basis, analyses of record.
• Serve as a point of contact for plant-specific Safety Analysis inquiries from internal and external customers.
• Lead evaluation of impacts of plant modifications on design analysis.
• Lead project teams and develop major technical descriptions for proposals.
• Provide engineering discipline expertise to peers, vendors, and customers.
• Develop procedures and methods for implementing technical requirements.

About The Role

As a Senior Transient Analysis Engineer you will performing design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors, in particular for non-Loss of Coolant Accidents (non-LOCA) transients.

You will report to the Manager, Transient Analysis / Safety Analysis / Risk Applications, Licensing and be located at our global headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. This position is hybrid; you will be onsite 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the develop and assess thermal-hydraulic models to perform safety analysis calculations consistent with regulatory requirements
• Lead reload safety evaluations for each plant cycle
• Lead plant specific licensing basis, analyses of record
• Be point of contact for plant-specific Safety Analysis (non-LOCA, transient dose or containment integrity related) specific inquiries from both internal and external customers
• Lead the Evaluation of impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis
• Lead project teams
• Lead integration and development of major technical descriptions to support customer proposals.
• Lead work of other engineers and provide periodic performance feedback to them.
• Communicate with responsible project manager on status of work projects
• Identify and support business growth opportunities and present recommendations to management.
• Develop new or improved products/services using knowledge of economic studies and recent technical developments. Prepare technical documents for products/services.
• Instruct, train, and guide personnel on significant technical projects, tasks and activities.
• Provide specific engineering discipline expert knowledge to peers, vendors and customers.
• Develop procedures, processes and methods for implementing technical requirements.
• Develop and deliver presentations to communicate status, problem resolution or promote related business products.

Qualifications

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
